Pasahero Thoughts: Grab and Others vs Traditional Transportation Options

While I get people want convenience pagdating sa biyahe or transportation this December (and other days), I don't get why some will opt to wait for two hours (emphasis on two hours) to book a GrabCar or any other ride-hailing app. That two hours can already be you moving using a different transportation. Jeep, bus, tricycle, train, and even walking (short distance) if possible. The waiting time is on top of cost concerns. So two hours of waiting, may chance pang ma stuck ka sa traffic kapag naka sakay ka na, tapos mas malaki pa gastos mo.

Was it raining? Maraming dala? Wala talagang other mode of transportation? Kasi naka mindset nang mas struggle kung hindi magra-ride hailing app? (What if hindi pala siya mas struggling?) Napa isip lang ako why people would or can choose to wait for two hours to book a vehicle while also complaining about the cost. Or siguro they have a traumatic experience in using the other transportation modes which is definitely valid.

I'm also not saying we should just accept that this is normal. I know the system is fucked up (and I am angry about it, too, for the longest time) but I am just wondering why other options are not being used if they are available?

And this is also why I hate when it rains heavily and I have to go outside, kapag may mga dala ako, as hindi nagdadala ng payong. Hindi ako kayang isalba ng jacket ko. LOL. Gaya nung Friday na I had two hand carry bags (things) and it was raining. And Thea doesn't like being late so I can't wait for another half of an hour to wait for the sky. I took a deep breath and blindly booked a car halfway (to Cubao then MRT to Shaw) because if I did it all the way, that would cost me more than PHP700.00 — which is comparable to a bus ticket to Baguio or La Union. Hindi ko nga matanggap na kailangan ko magbayad ng almost PHP500.00 for that ride. Dalawang baso na ng iced tea ko 'yun. 😭
