Hey, awesome bookworms! May I have your attention?
I know that if the adjective is already in the superlative form, it should be accompanied with only one thing. On this case, however, we just couldn’t get just one reason why you should attend the Big Bad Wolf’s Book Sale – the biggest and most anticipated book sale that started in Malaysia. Are you excited? Because I am! AWESOME!
1. 60% to 80% off on your favorite titles and authors!
Visiting the Big Bad Wolf’s Book Sale can make you score a soft bound of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars for only P190.00. The whole set of Maze Runner by James Dashner is up for grabs for only P790.00! Most of the soft bound copies are priced at P190.00 while hard bounds start at P200.00. Who knows who are you bringing home with these cheap prices! Jodi Picoult’s Sing You Home, both softbound and hardbound, is priced at P190.00; while JK Rowling’s Harry Potter, The Cursed Child (1&2) is priced at P580.00. The whole Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis is only P1,150.00. (They also have Paulo Coelho, Stephenie Meyer, Mitch Albom, Sidney Sheldon, Rick Diordan, Cassandra Clare, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth, Ransom Riggs, and Emma Donoghue!)
According to Miguel Mercado, BBW’s Marketing Head, the prices of the books are cheaper (a whole lot!) because they want to encourage people, especially the young ones, to go back to reading again, in this world full of screens and swipes on our faces. They want to bring back that fun, that romance of reading a book. “By doing so, we are raising more critical thinkers in every nation where the Big Bad Wolf goes,” he explained.
So dig in and smell the leaves of the books you would be taking! OK? OK.
2. Lots of selections to choose from
With over two million books, the BBW’s fair does not only have young adult, fiction, and romance sections. They also have story and activity books for children, reference books, books on food, movies, self-help, non-fiction, and a whole lot more!
So parents, be ready to be broke! Well, it’s soup for the minds of your young ones!
3. It’s free admission and runs for 24 hours!
No need to panic that the fair would be closed on a certain time. No need to panic that you need to get your tickets ahead of time. The admission is definitely, ultimately free and they are open 24 hours! Beat that! So no need to rush after office or take a leave at work or school because you can enjoy visiting the book fair on non-office or non-school hours.
4. Versatile modes of payments
No cash but you got credit or debit card? Do not frown because the Big Bad Wolf got you covered! They accept credit cards, debit cards, and even G-cash. The place also has ATMs. (And of course, restrooms for your search break.)
5. It has a good cause.
Aside from the advocacy to bring back the fun and romance in reading, Big Bad Wolf has a campaign dubbed as “Library-In-A-Box” where shoppers can shop books that will be given to public schools so they can start their own libraries.
ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation is one of its beneficiaries! Under ALKFI’s Bantay Kalikasan, 10 public schools in Manila will receive these libraries in a box.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale originated in Malaysia and has become a regular event as well in Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. It is their first time here in the Philippines, at World Trade Center, Pasay City.
Now that I probably have your attention, get ready to huff and puff and grab your bags or even suitcases so you can haul the books you have always wanted! The event runs until the 25th of February. It officially opened on February 16 while lucky fans were able to have the first sneak peek last February 15.
Stay awesome!
